CMD AT PROXIMED PHYSIO
CMD stands for "Craniomandibular Dysfunction". This term describes all complaints associated with the temporomandibular joint. Approximately one third of the adult population suffers from such dysfunctions (CMD). Since 3.6% of children under the age of 6 also suffer from CMD problems, CMD treatment for children also plays a major role.
A temporomandibular joint problem often causes problems which, however, do not always manifest themselves in the area of the temporomandibular joint.Much more frequently, there are recurring disorders in the shoulder & neck area in daily practice. These usually do not originate at the site of the perceived pain.
SYMPTOMS FOR CMD
- Cracking of the jaw (e.g. when opening)
- Nocturnal grinding of teeth
- muscular pain (jaw, face or neck region)
- Restrictions of the jaw mobility
- Coordination difficulties with movements of the jaw
- Balance disorders
- Tinnitus
- Headache
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
01/ FINDING
Functional examination and determination of possible reasons for the complaints
02/TREATMENT
Pain relief and functional improvement through manual therapy and osteopathic techniques.
03/INDIVIDUAL PLAN
Creation of an individual treatment strategy including supplementary exercise videos for further training at home.
In a diagnostic and functional examination, we determine possible reasons for the complaints. These are then treated with manual therapy and osteopathic techniques. The main focus of CMD treatment is the treatment of the patient's symptoms. The pain is relieved and a subsequent improvement in function in the jaw area is achieved. We also develop strategies to prevent recurring pain. To consolidate this result in the best possible way, an individual exercise programme is created.
